Overview About The American Karate Studio:
As a beginning student at The American Karate Studio, you will begin training with other new students as a white belt. We have kid’s only classes, adult only classes and family classes for beginners. Each beginning student is given special care by one of our many well-trained instructors and their progress is monitored on a daily basis. Instructors are always around after class for extra instruction (if necessary) for no extra cost. All attempts are made to see that the student is completely comfortable. If you are a quick learner and wish to progress quicker, classes are offered six days a week (afternoons and evenings) and you may attend as many as possible. Over time, you will see the benefits of karate training and their effects in life: self-defense, modesty, physical fitness, self-control, perseverance and indomitable spirit.
American Karate Studio Philosophy
From the beginning of their martial arts training, Mr. Marotta’s students are taught that restraint and the avoidance of conflict are the highest virtues. By joining The American Karate Studio, you become a part of a tradition that dates back centuries. The person who takes up karate at The American Karate Studio will soon learn that there is something about the art that he or she wants in his or her life.
Whether you are fitness-oriented or looking for a sense of confidence and security, you will find it here. Our youngest students have not entered kindergarten and our oldest students are drawing social security benefits. Men, women, and children of all ages can benefit from karate training.
Creating more self-esteem in people is our first priority here: deriving confidence from within by developing inner talents can help people feel better about themselves, regardless of how small that inner talent is. The bottom line is that karate was designed to help people grow: students can evolve by striving to improve their knowledge. At The American Karate Studio, we are here to make you a stronger, more confident person. With hard work and a positive attitude, you will learn that you can have fun and gain confidence at the same time!

While in the service, he taught karate to the troops at Ft. Bragg, N.C. and at Ft. Hood, Texas. After being discharged in 1972, Mr. Marotta resumed training under Mr. Hyon, in Minneapolis, waiting for a teaching spot at one of Mr. Hyon's schools. Finally, in 1974, he became the head instructor at the St. Louis Park Studio and has been teaching full-time professionally ever since.
In 1977 Mr. Marotta purchased the school from Mr. Hyon and renamed it The American Karate Studio. He now has multiple locations in the west suburban area.
